01Who we are
Danspiration Classical Kathak Academy ("Danspiration", "we", "us") is a Kathak dance conservatory in Kolkata, West Bengal, directed by Guru Rupa Bhattacharyya and affiliated with Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. We are the Data Fiduciary for personal data collected through this website, the Shishya student portal and the installable app (PWA).

We never collect or store your card number, UPI PIN or bank credentials. Payments are processed entirely by our payment gateway.
03How we use it
- To process audition enquiries, admissions and batch allotment.
- To sign you in with a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered number.
- To verify a student's identity in person and keep studios safe for minors.
- To maintain attendance, the confidential fee ledger and exam registrations.
- To send class updates, fee reminders and exam notices on WhatsApp/SMS.
- To keep the portal secure, prevent misuse and fix technical problems.
We do not sell personal data, show third-party advertising, or use your data for profiling unrelated to your training.
04Children's data
Most of our students are under 18. For every minor, a parent or lawful guardian registers the student and gives verifiable consent on their behalf. We do not track minors' behaviour for advertising or send them targeted marketing.
Fee amounts are masked on student-facing screens and are never shown to other families. Verification photos are visible only to authorised academy staff.
06How long we keep it
- Audition enquiries that do not convert to admission: up to 12 months.
- Active student records: for as long as the student is enrolled.
- After a student leaves: academic and exam records for 3 years; payment records for 8 years as required by Indian tax law.
- Verification photos: deleted within 90 days of a student leaving.
- OTP codes expire within minutes and are not kept.
07How we protect it
Data is transmitted over HTTPS, access is limited to authorised staff by role, sensitive fee data is never cached on your device by our app, and every payment is verified with the gateway's cryptographic signature. See our Security Policy for details and for how to report a vulnerability.
08Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, 2023 you (or the parent/guardian of a minor) may:
- Ask for a summary of the personal data we hold and how it is used.
- Ask us to correct, complete or update inaccurate data.
- Withdraw consent and ask us to erase data that is no longer needed (subject to legal retention).
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights in case of death or incapacity.
- Raise a grievance with us, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
